The Hon. Commissioner for Transportation Joseph Baron Okwoli made this known today while addressing the committee constituted for the take off of Ultramodern Mega Terminal in Lokoja.
He disclosed that in a bid to ensure security and safety and most importantly to curtail incessant accidents and lost of lives at felele axis along Okene, Lokoja and Abuja high way, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kogi State Alh Yahaya Bello has ordered the immediate opening of the Lokoja Ultramodern Mega Terminal to all commuters traversing the state.
He added that immediate commencement of operation is to adequately curb indiscriminate dropped off and pickup of passengers by the road side.
Hon. Joseph Baron however avouched that, himself and his team are working assiduously to meet the mandate of the present administration, regarding the security and safety of commuters and road users in the state.
A member of the committee, the Auditor General of the State, Alh Okala Yusuf Yakubu, in his words stated that the required funding for the successful realization of the project has been budgeted and approved, and at such, the State Executive Council has approved 15th of this month for the commencement of operation.
He further stated that the State Government has made available mobility for joint task force personnel that will keep the activities of motorists in check.
In their separate remarks,the Acting Chairman Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, Yusufu Abubakar and the Special Adviser to the State Government on New Media Ronke Bello chipped in their contributions, bringing to limelight areas that requires little touches.
The representative of the terminal operating company Lokoja Mr Otaru Samson, mentioned that preparation for the opening of the mega terminal is at the verge of completion, following the approved time frame for commencement of Operation.
