Sequel to the flag-off of the enrolment of the vulnerable persons by His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello on December 18, 2020, Kogi State Health Insurance Agency has so far enrolled over thirty thousand vulnerable persons across the twenty one Local Government Areas of the state.
The enrollment of vulnerable persons is made possible through the Basic Health care provision fund and Bello care program aimed at providing free health care services to the vulnerable persons across Kogi state.
The enrollment exercise will wind up by April and the free health care services of the vulnerable persons is expected to take off as soon as possible across the state.
.In the last three months the enrollment team of the agency under the supervision of her Executive Secretary, Dr Adekunle Aledare navigated through the two hundred and thirty nine wards of the state capturing biometrically the biodata of the vulnerable persons to ensure they all benefit from the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and Bello care free health care services in the state.
It is on record that Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello has continued to pay priority attention on the health sector as one of the core thematic focus of his administration. The governor knows fully well that a healthy population translate to buoyant and economic prosperity.
Suffice to say that the foresight of the governor in placing Dr Haruna Audu Saka as the commissioner of health in the state has made the ministry one of the leading productive sector for the people of the state.
It is during the commissioner’s tenure of office that Kogi State Health Insurance Agency was established to provide equitable access to quality and affordable health care services to the residents of Kogi state.
The establishment of the agency is also in tandem with the global vision of achieving Universal Health Coverage and financial protection for the residents of Kogi state by the year 2030.
There is no gainsaying that Kogi state Health Insurance Agency has continued to enjoy strong political will and ardent support from His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
According to the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Adekunle Aledare the agency has continued to enjoy robust working space due to His Excellency’s commitment and love for the sound health of the people of Kogi state.
While carrying out the data capturing exercise of the vulnerable persons across the state, the Executive Secretary, Dr Adekunle Aledare who led the supervisory group for the exercise received a robust welcome from Agassa ward in Okene Local Government Area, Badoko in Ajaokuta Local Government Area and a host of other communities across the state.
Dr Aledare particularly appreciated the efforts of the Onoba of Agassa, Chief Musa Asuku for mobilizing his subjects for the biometric enrolment exercise of the vulnerable persons in his community. He stated that the traditional ruler with some community health workers made the exercise in the area easy and very successful.
The Executive Secretary gave thanks to God for passing through the hurdles of the rural communities in carrying out the exercise successfully noting that the governor’s achievements in the area of security made the exercise in rural communities so easy and without any security threat.
The Governor’s clout in the area of security, he said, has made him the best governor in the country noting that if elected as the next president of Nigeria the country will witness prosperity as the economic growth of any country depends on her strong security architecture.
He also thanked the enrolment officers, Coordinators and Supervisors for their resilience while the exercise lasted in the field.
Dr Aledare said with the successful completion of the Biometric enrolment exercise of the vulnerable persons across the state, the agency will soon commence access to free health care services under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and Bello care.to all the enrolled vulnerable persons in the state.
He also thanked the Secretary to Kogi state government, Dr Folashade Ayoade-Arike for her unflinching support to the success of the agency.
He prayed God to continue to grant her good health at all times.
Dr Aledare in his closing remark thanked Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for the opportunity to serve the people of the state saying he will ever remain loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) party led-administration in the state.
He also thanked the Commissioner of Health, Dr Haruna Audu Saka for a robust working relationship noting that the commissioner is a workaholic and an excellent leader.
